What is GenC?

Children's Hospital Boston's Generation Cures is a kid-led, parent-enabled community all about empowering kids to give back. Ideas are sparked on our kids' website, home to a free and safe online experience.

As a family, you can watch our "for-kids, by kids" videos that puts kids in the reporter's seat. You'll meet Children's patients who go behind-the-scenes to meet their surgeon or visit a research lab. Others, like Kaylee, have never set foot in Children's, but want to help our patients. They'll show you what they've done as part of this generous generation. Generation Cures.

Your family also can explore our animated Zebrafish series-named after the small, transparent fish Children's researchers use to study disease. It's a story of friends who form a rock band, and when one becomes ill, the kids consider how they can help. A benefit concert to raise money for research is the perfect solution. But if faced with a similar situation, what would your kids do? The series can jumpstart dialogue with your kids, helping you address issues that may be difficult to broach. Once inspired to action, your kids can create their own fundraiser, which they can do right from our site.

Caduceus, the site's adventure game, takes the animated characters alter egos and places them in a fantasy world, inviting kids to find cures for a deadly virus. If your kids are into games-they can actually "game for good," encouraging family and friends to pledge their game-a-thon.
